iPhone, Amtrak, Bacon, etc.
Yesterday I got to play with an iPhone. I think that I would buy one if the following things change:
· Ability to get photos off of it via Bluetooth (OBEX?), or some method other than simply syncing with iPhoto or via email.
· Ability to upload photos via Safari.
· Ability to use the phone as a network device for data access via from another device. Either as a BT modem or network device.
The interface is very very slick, and it’s pleasant to use. Google Maps on it is a dream. However, it doesn’t do the couple things I want.
Danielle and I took an Amtrak train from Birmingham, MI to Ann Arbor, MI. We wandered around Ann Arbor, ate at Zingerman’s, bought a few things, met up with Kate and Ben, and then took the train home. It was $72 round trip for the two of us with business class seats. I have a few complaints about the service, but generally it was all right. I don’t know if I’d go via that route again, but it was nice to see the trip between the the two towns from a different perspective.
When at Zingerman’s I ate a very tasty sandwich plied with some high quality, tasty, smoked bacon. It also included lettuce, tomato, avocado, and green chilis.
Photos of all of this will likely come later.
Bacon? I thought you were vegan?
I don’t have much faith that any provider won’t do that. I think that AT&T is just getting most of the attention.
I think AT&T is the only one that got caught. They pretty much all suck. I can’t think of a single carrier that provides the kind of service they claim or that I would really feel safe trusting with personal, confidential information.
But I don’t see myself going “off the grid” any time soon, either…
hurrrggg
And that is why I run my own server for mail and stuff. Although it is pretty much unencrypted while en route… And I’m sure any authority who wanted to know what is on there could get in and out without my knowledge, anyway.
MEAT!!!!
I knew you wouldn’t last for ever. Hot damn: bacon is good.
Was this your first meat in a while or have you been warming up to it? If I may, I’d recommend some meat that is not cured or preserved. You can probably find some free-range veggie-fed chicken (at most grocery stores these days, at least in Cali…) and barbecue it. Fire makes it good.
That’s the first bit of formal meat I’ve eaten in a while (almost four years) although I strongly suspect that a number of the Asian dishes I’ve had contain some manner of beef/pork/chicken stock.
Also, while out that way for the interview (or was it back in August for SRL?) I had some mushroom and truffle soup which had chicken stock in it.
I’m still hesitant to eat some meat, because I know the sort of questionable sources it can come from. However, I probably will eat some better quality stuff… Especially if I can find some chicken like you are describing, in sausage form.
Country Smoke House has chicken like that, and bacon, and other meaty goodness.
that made me lol
i wasn’t LOLing at that.
I was LOLing that you godwined this LJ post by comparing Apple forcing people to go with AT&T to IBM selling a counting machine to the Nazis.
