Tonight’s Dinner

Tonight’s Dinner

So, here’s tonight’s dinner: Grilled Cheese w/ Grilled Tomatoes on Pesto Bread, Sliced Red and Yellow Peppers, Downey’s Potato Chips, Mint Sun Tea, and a Cameo Apple

I ended up forgoing the apple, as I was too full. Yes, that grilled cheese (muenster on pesto bread) was very filling, and the slices of bread are rather large.

And yes, I know the chips and peppers are out of focus. Oops. I was trying to hurry and eat more than anything.

Krups Espresso Maker

Would anyone like my espresso maker? It is the one seen to the left of the stove in this photo. It’s a few years old Krups which hasn’t been used more than 5 times. It’s nice and clean, with maybe just a bit of dust on it. I simply don’t use it, and I’d rather not throw it out.

So, whoever wants it can have it.

Communist Chocolate!

Lindt Cuba 55% Chocolate

It’s amazing the things one can find in Canada at the Duty Free shop. Here is a photo of the back of the package, if you are interested. It even says on the edge that it is specifically made with Cuban beans. Hopefully it’ll be good.

Oh, today I went to Pinery, an Ontario Provincial Park about 45 minutes (maybe a bit longer) from Sarnia. I was bored. I took a good number of photos there, and many more around the Blue Water Bridge area. Those will be uploaded later.

I also need to upload the photos from Alex and Les’ wedding. I think they are okay. I think.

Erma’s Frozen Custard, et all.

Erma’s Is Open!!!
(Click for more moblog photos…)

So, I screwed up. I thought I had a dentist appointment today, so when arriving at my dentist’s office at 5:50pm, he was there alone, most of the lights were off, and he was rather surprised to see me. We discussed what’s going on with his computers for a bit, then I headed home. Well, that was the plan, but then I ended up heading over to Holland Ponds Park to wander around.

Here’s some photos from there. The one with the flag in it would have made a better title photo, but… Yeah. Just look at them:

· A nicely twisted, mangled tree in Holland Ponds Park in Shelby Township, MI.
· A plastic American flag hanging from some dead branches, found along the bank of the Clinton River in Holland Ponds Park.
· Another portion o the previously pictured engine which I came across in Holland Ponds Park.
· An engine block I came across in Holland Ponds Park.
· A nesting Canadian Goose setting on top of a fallen tree in the middle of the Clinton River in Holland Ponds park.

After that, I decided to use the last $2 in my wallet to head over to Erma’s Frozen Custard in Utica for some classic southeast Michigan frozen custard. Mmm. Erma’s being open means that springtime has definitely arrived.

And yes, that’s where this icon is from.

Now, I’m home. Just simply home. There are sheets in the laundry, the precipitate from disposing of the ferric chloride is drying in the garage, I’m making some final tweaks to my SIDbox’s board layout, and there is another bottle of Dark Horse’s Double Crooked Tree IPA chilling in the fridge, waiting for me to drink it later.

I use ferric chloride to etch PCBs. Well, the solution I have was becoming a bit weak, so I decided to dispose of it. In retrospect I could probably have used it a few more times, but… Oh well. It’s already neutralized.

In order to dispose of it, one needs to add a base (I used baking soda) until it’s pretty neutral, then it is let set in order to separate. The liquid can be poured off the top, and the precipitate can be thrown out. Unfortunately the precipitate stains with ridiculous vigor, so my laundry tub now has some brownish orange stains in it. Ah well.

In a few days I should be able to safely toss the containers of dry chemical, then head to the dollar store and get a few more. I’ll also have to source some more PCB etchant. That’ll be harder to find…

Coffee!

This morning I am drinking some excellent coffee. It is a 50/50 Mocha / Java blend which I roasted myself to be fairly dark, brewed in a Bialetti Moka Express with about 1/2 tsp of chicory. After brewing the full pot of coffee was then poured over 2 Tbsp of ‘coffee cream’ (something like 18% butterfat) in a tall, clear insulated drinking container.

Total of 60 calories, and it’s really quite nice. Probably one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had in a long time.

George Dickel

So, today I acquired a bottle of George Dickel for purposes of making irish coffee.

Well, I’ve made myself one, and I’m sipping it while doing dishes.

It’s quite good, especially for a cheap(er) whisky. It puts Jack Daniels (shudder) to shame.

Mmm. This is great for American whisky. And if only used in irish coffee, it will go a long way.

Pummelo!

Mmm… Pummelo!

That’s part of my snack from tonight. Within 45 seconds of taking this image I grabbed this piece and popped it into my mouth. Mmm… It’s almost like a mild grapefruit.

Also, it seems I’m not the only one who has taken an interesting picture of a pummelo: http://justinsomnia.org/images/pummelo.jpg

That one has a bit more squick to it, and my pummelo wasn’t nearly as fleshy-colored. But I still like my photo….

Although I did screw up and leave the ISO at 400, resulting in a loss of a good bit of detail. Ah well. I still think it came out okay…
