Poutine!

Poutine!

Poutine from HARVEY’S.
(Click for more moblog photos…)

Danielle and I headed over to Point Pelee National Park yesterday. I’ll post photos of it later, but for now I wanted to post the photo of an order of poutine acquired at HARVEY’S in Windsor, just before crossing back into the US. This was part of our dinner, where I had a veggie burger (with onions, lettuce, and hot peppers), poutine, and 7-Up, while Danielle had a normal burger, poutine, and root beer.

Also, this was some tasty candy from Friday.

    Yay Canada!

Yukon and I go camping in Leamington A LOT in the summer and so we hang out on the beach at PPNP a lot. There is a little teeny public beach at the end of the road there where it is nice to watch the sun set. Anyway – Right when we enter Windsor we stop and get poutine gravy mix, some potatoes and cheese curds and it make it for a delicious camp dinner. (Although it makes Yukon even smellier than usual!) We like PPNP but they don’t let Yukon down to the point, which is unfortunate, so we walk around the boardwalk and then just chill on the beach.

Essex county is really great for day or weekend trips, IMO. There are a lot of fun – nature – things to do and it is so clean there.

I haven’t gone to Pelee Island yet, but we’d like to check it out and do some camping and wine drinking. I think the 90 min ferry ride might be pushing it for Yukon’s comfort level, but we’ll see.

But that’d just be fries and gravy!

    1. An old question, I’m sure but I’m new to this dish:
Is the poutine better tasting than it looks?

    2. What did you think of the Red Fire Bar?

    1. c0nsumer April 3, 2007

      1. Yes. It’s incredible. That’s just fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Mmm.

      2. Excellent. It’s really good… I made friends try it without telling them what it was, and they *really* liked it. (I made sure there weren’t allergies first…)

    mmmm… poutine.

Incidently, If you’re ever in Ithaca NY, stop in at the State Diner on State Street. Order their Cheese Gravy Fries.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Is that the same place with the Garbage Plate? Wait, no… That’s in Rochester.

That’d be “Nick Tahau Hots” or “Steve T’s Hots” in Rochester. There are also other variants around rochester, like Empire Hots, which is on my side of the city, has a “Trash Plate” or something like that, which is a little better, and has more mac salad and such.
