Juice Box
June 2, 2005
As mentioned in this Slashdot post yesterday, there is a rather interesting toy called the Juice Box which runs μcLinux and can display photos off of an SD card.
$12/ea at Target, plus another $11 for the SD adapter and a 32MB SD card. Should be interesting to play with…
And… Of course… The first image displayed on it was this one.
So you actually have your hands on one of these and know where to get them for that price? I’d’ve thought they’d be off the shelves by now.
I really want one or a few of them to make digital picture frames!
Target near Great Lakes Crossing has them… $12/ea for the players, $11/ea for the SD card / card reader.
I can probably try and snag some for you tomorrow, if you’d like… How many do you want?
FWIW, they are 4bpp images, 240×160, and the colors look a bit blueish / washed out. Not bad, but not great. I think they are older STN displays. Still, at that price they are worth playing with. Oh, and they do a decent job playing MP3s, although I’m not sure of battery life.
