Pan 0.14.0

In case anyone cares, I just installed Pan 0.14.0 from Fink unstable. It’s far improved over 0.13.2 (or whatever) which is the version in stable. I highly recommend to anyone needing a USENET reader that they check out Pan. Install X11, install Fink, make it work with unstable (check the FAQ), and install. It’s very, very close to Forte Agent, except it defaults to viewing images internally. The speed is great even on my G4 Cube.

Oh, I’ll have a G4 Cube for sale in October if anyone is interested.

  1. Ooh, I might be interested! For why might you be selling it?

    1. End of October is when I get my G5. No more need for the cube… I’m thinking that I’ll likely sell it for slightly under eBay prices. Here’s what it’s got…

      Standard PowerMac G4 Cube (450Mhz)
      -Plus-
      704MB RAM
Apple Pro Keyboard (about a month old)
nVidia GeForce 2 MX 32MB (to allow Quartz Extreme, see pics here.

It’d be nice to have it around, but with a cube with these types of add-ons going for $800 – $900 on eBay, I may as well sell it and put the money towards the G5. It’s sooooooo beautiful, though.

    Pictures?

Do you have any pictures? We may be interested in purchasing that from you also.

    1. Re: Pictures?

Yep… There’s quite a few pictures of it at http://www.dingleberrypie.com/g4cube.

I’m not quite sure how much I’ll want for it, but it’ll likely be just under fair eBay prices. It’s a PowerMac G4 Cube with 704MB RAM, GeForce 2 MX, and a rather new Apple Pro Keyboard (the new design). You’ll need a USB-based sound device to get sound out of it, either speakers or an iMic. Either of these run about $30 at local stores.
