Making, baking, and (un-)breaking things in Southeast Michigan.

With gas prices on the rise, I figured I should top off my tank tonight. I bet they’ll jump tomorrow… Almost US$20 later, I had ~7.5 gallons of mid-grade gas. Uggh.

En route to the gas station, I decided to use the car’s trip meter to clock the distance I just ran. Well, it came up with 0.6 miles. Hmm. I swore it was longer than that last year when I walked it with a GPS. So, when I got back to my house I re-ran it with the GPS in my back pocket.

Unfortunately the GPS doesn’t work so well in my pocket, so it only logged a few scattered points and 0.6 miles. I guess I’ll just have to walk it again tomorrow, GPS held high in the air (or at least out in front of me) to establish the true distance.

Regardless, I ran the loop around my neighborhood non-stop again.

I’m satisfied. I think now I deserve a beer.

you know your car should probably run quite fine on regular gas. midgrade gas dosent really do anything for your car at all except cost more money.

It depends on the vehicle. I’ve checked my car against various grades of gas, and I get better performance and the engine runs better with midgrade (89) than with regular (87). However, I see no improvement when I move to premium (92). So, I stick with midgrade…

thats cool. i havent had any cars that ran better with premium except when i was running hi-po v-8’s. both of my mustangs knocked like mofo’s with 87 or 89. but ive never had a 4 or 6 show much difference with anything other then 87. even my hi-po 6’s. each car is different though. and i havent had any experience with gm cars.

Oh, yeah… I know what you mean. My parents Saturn insists on 87 ONLY, else it’ll knock hard. My car is a 6, and it really does have a noticeable difference… I should try again, though. It’s been a few years.

A glance at conversion rates and a couple of quick calculations tells me that at the price we pay for fuel here in the UK, that same amount would cost you about US$45….

That’s why the US is better! Big things! Low prices! Guns Guns Guns!

      ;)

We have big things too – Wales would be the size of Texas if you flattened it out !

        Anyway, WE have history. :p

Hehehe… We do too, it’s just that the Europeans managed to kill a lot of it off. ;) Hehehe…

Hah. I went to a school older than the USofA, and it was just the local comprehensive school, nothing fancy.
