Frankenmuth, MI

Click for more…

Well, in a fit of boredom, I decided to head to Frankenmuth by myself today. In case you don’t know, Frankenmuth is a rather interesting German-settled town in central Michigan. It has a really kitschy/campy feel to it, and it’s always decorated for Christmas. Almost as if it’s a storybook Christmas town. I ended up wandering around the town for a bit, poking my head in a few places, and getting a few bits of candy and bread.

While I didn’t make a stop at Bronner’s (which is literally the world’s largest christmas store), I did see a good bit of stuff, including an arcade full of all sorts of old games, which happens to be closing for good tomorrow.

So, if you want to check out the pictures, I’ve got them all uploaded and captioned here. Enjoy. :)

Now I think I’m going to head to Luna… Well, maybe in a few minutes.

        404 – File Not Found

Doh! 404 Error! It seems that whatever URL you clicked on or typed in didn’t quite work. If you’d like, feel free to email the site admin if you think you got this page in error. Otherwise, just keep on navigating to somewhere else…

        1. Doh, yeah. I got the photos sorted last night, and moved things out of the upload directory. Uhm…

ya know, I’m not sure that the whole city is always decorated for Christmas. I know they do a lot to celebrate around the holidays and have ice carving contests and all kinds of neat stuff in the winter, but I’ve been there during summer and don’t recall holiday lights except in Bronners.

fun trivia: my high school had their senior graduation dinner in Frankenmuth. :)

    1. Where did you go to school at?

And yeah… Sorry, I should have clarified that about Christmas, and how it’s only that way this time of the year. For some reason I just had this strong, compelling interest in going there yesterday. It was very worthwhile.

Swartz Creek. It’s west of Flint and just a short drive from Frankenmuth.

PS. Zender’s is like Popeye’s for white people

    1. Heh. You know, I’ve never actually eaten there… Whenever I was little we always went to Bavarian Inn. I remember it being pretty good, but for as long as I can remember I’ve had this aversion to eating meat off of the bone.
