Hmm. I can’t seem to make my plain old generic standard Compact Flash reader work with OS X. The card works fine on a PC, the reader shows up in Apple Device Profiler, but the disk doesn’t seem to work. It’s plugged into a powered hub which is connected to a root port on the cube itself. I’ve also tried it passed through the keyboard. No go.

Any ideas?

taunt it with nasty names and profane its mother.

if that doesn’t work, hit it with a hammer.

No idea. I haven’t ever tried to use a USB compact flash reader (I just hook up my Canon Powershot directly to my keyboard via a USB cable to d/l pictures). You might try asking in the [info]macosx community tho. :) Being as verbose as possible (name of reader, 10.2.* version, name of powered hub, etc.) always helps.

Have you tried pluggin the reader directly into the usb port on the cube, not through the keyboard or hub?

I’ve heard that they can be finicky, but since you’re using a *powered* hub, you shouldn’t be having that problem. Hm. Failing that, call generic card reader tech support. Maybe you got a bad one.

I haven’t tried that yet, but I’m about to. The reader works fine on numerous PCs and is even detected by the Mac. Just not the card in it. I’m thinking something is weird with 10.2.6. I’m going to try a Sandisk reader on Wednesday.

my Sandisk works perfectly with the iBook and my PC, directly connected -or- through my lil USB hub. maybe the generic is just *too* generic? regardless, good luck (:
