High School Math

Remember how, when learning Algebra in high school, most people thought that they’d never really need it in day to day life? Well, while I don’t use such things for my job, I need to solve similar problems all the time for brewing beer.

    It’s cool that it serves such a noble purpose. :D

    I, on the other hand, was told by my 7th grade Algebra teacher that because I was a girl, I didn’t really need to know math.

    A FEMALE math teacher.

    Thats what they need to be telling high school students when they are teaching them algebra. heck, atleast they would pay attetion in class then

  3. I immediately saw the usefulness of algebra when I learnt it in middle school.

    It was trig and calculus that I couldn’t imagine needing….

      Well, I could see places where it would be used, but I was already doing it in my head so I didn’t see places where it needed to be written down.

    That’s funny, my algebra teacher makes wine and just explained it to use algabraically. (is that a word? it is now!) It was interesting. I thought of you and your beer when he did it.

  5. heh. i was just telling someone the other day that homebrewing had no appeal to me as it seemed far too much like math, i guess i was right!!!
