Wow, so I just ran 1.1 miles straight. No stopping to walk… That’s the furthest I’ve ever run at once in my life.

And to think that a week ago (exactly) the same run took be about five stops to walk. And I hadn’t ran any distance AT ALL for at least six or seven months prior to that.

I think I might have figured out the breathing thing… I found that if I concentrated on my breathing I seemed to get an extra boost of energy.

This whole thing seems odd to me because I’ve always been able to skate a lot, but not run much.

do you have asthma? mine is VERY exercise induced, and even at my absolute most fit, 18 y.o. national soccer team days i could only run about 3 miles and i still felt like i was going to collapse.

i finally rejoined the gym and i find that i can do 20 minutes on a fat burn/cardio level elliptical absolutely miraculous.

Nope, not at all actually… I’m just out of shape. I don’t feel like I’m going to collapse afterwards, just kinda beat.

Interestingly, I can skate for an hour and a half straight with no issues at all. I’m not even really winded after, just some slightly tired legs. Last year I’d regularly do 6-8 miles at a time every few days (whenever I ended up at the park) and upwards of 10 miles (topped out at 14 one day) in about an hour and a half.

This is all along Metro Parkway, ranging between I-94 and the point in metro beach.

I have exercise induced asthma too, and so I have to watch it and not push myself too hard in the cardio area. :)

  2. Hooray for you!
At my fattiest, my freshman year of high school, we had to run a mile without stopping…it was our final…if we stopped we failed. That was the first time I ever ran a mile w/o stopping. It’s not bad if you pace yourself and focus on your breathing. Man, I was so hopped up on endorphins that I gave a guy my phone number for the first time…sadly, the endorphins ran out by the time he called me and I was super-nervous and made an ass of myself.

    So, yeah, good times.

      Hehehe, thank you. :)

Wow, that’s crazy… I wasn’t out of shape at that time of my life, I just wasn’t in shape. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever really been in good shape, except for when I was in Tae Kwon Do around 9 – 13.

I think it’s a bit more of an achievement to be 26 and getting into shape, though. In fact, it makes me happy to do so.

Now I just need to do this every day this week… And the next… And the next… And maybe start piling on multiple laps around my neighborhood.

(Note to self: re-clock the neighborhood to be certain of the distance)

      1. I was crazy-fat…around 168 and maybe five feet tall. YARGH! Then I lost 40 pounds in the span of three months and grew a few inches…it rocked. I thought I was the hottest thing since the habanero.
It’s really satisfying to get in shape at this sorta time. I feel like I’ve really accomplished a lot. I just have to start working out on a regular basis. I really need it now ’cause all that tasty cruise food did a number on me.
Hooray for running the neighborhood…I’ma start running in the ol’ park soon. AND! I get to walk to class tomorrow ’cause it’s gonna be nice out. HOORAYYYYYYY!

Hehe, yeah. Thusly I’m going to try to continue running… I figure if I can do it every day, I’ll just get in mighty good shape.
