Hmm you better put in a good word for me then.

I might call them and get the OS X license I ordered. Or I’ll just keep the Windows one and keep doing things under there… I’ve already got a more-featured non-profit license and I used it for the commercial stuff I’m doing, but I kept my design within the constraints of the commercial license. So, I think I’m safe regardless. I just wanted to be legal.

I’ve found Eagle under X11 to be kind of clunky, but the Windows version isn’t bug-free either…

It would certainly be nice if they made an OS X native port of it, but fat chance there.

It is a bit clunkier, definitely. Also, the times at which Apple’s X11 reads the .Xmodmap don’t make sense to me either. In short, I can’t just double-click the EAGLE icon and have it run. It will do so, but the .Xmodmap won’t be read, so ALT won’t work.

Oh, and the OS X version is a PPC binary still…

Or… I could do board design for you. :D

        maybe.

about the auto-router, i am well aware of the fact that auto routers are typically bad and wrong, but sometimes the algorithm works out well.

the problem is that i am buying this for the current project as well as my business idea, but i am open to working with you on the simpler project to see how things go. what do think about that?

Of course, I just figured I’d offer. I’m trying to get even more experience doing layouts, and I figure I may as well begin offering my services to friends.

“so I can build a full-on Honda Music Link reverse engineering setup on my workbench.”

I eagerly await pictures of this set up when it’s up and running :)

What will you be using to power the stereo from your workbench?

    1. c0nsumer July 31, 2007

      A salvaged power supply. It’s just 12VDC.

      1. kevinblanchard July 31, 2007

I figured the voltage was the easy part. I wasn’t sure if it would need anything special depending on how much it was drawing. I’m excited to see the set up. I finally picked up a nice all purpose (but mainly for electronics) workbench for my home office in my apartment.

Oh, the spare PS I have can do something like 3A or 4A on the 12V rail. I figure that should be enough if I don’t turn it up…

          1. kevinblanchard July 31, 2007

true. and I guess you could always meter it while hooked to your car battery just to see what it’s drawing in action just so you know where your cut offs are. Just means you can’t turn the radio up to 11 ;-) lol

          2. c0nsumer July 31, 2007

I can’t hook it up to my car, really. That stereo is for a CR-V and I’ve got a Civic… Different harness. It shouldn’t be a problem, really. And anyway, I’m only really concerned about the logic inside, not the amp.

            right on. :)
