Grilled Cheese & Mexican Coke

Grilled Cheese, Wheat Crackers, Mexican Coca-Cola

Here is a photo of my dinner from the other night. It is three small grilled cheese sandwiches made with Meijer-brand bread and generic sharp cheddar, Meijer-brand organic wheat crackers (like Wheat Thins™), and Mexican Coca-Cola (made with real sugar and no HFCS).

I’ve heard that other countries also use vegetable extract and it makes the Coke taste better. How was it?

Well, by “vegetable extract” that can also mean the essential oils used simply for flavoring soda. I think that, and HFCS, are what is meant by the UK labeling of “contains vegetable extract”.

That said, Mexican Coca-Cola is excellent. It’s wonderful. Very, very good. It tastes like a light, very sweet version of coke, without the sickly thick aftertaste. It’s really good.

I don’t drink HFCS-based soda anymore; only stuff with Real Sugar in it. Otherwise I drink water or Iced Tea (usually plain or mint) or something like that.

man, I still haven’t had one of your grilled cheese sandwiches. Those look even better then the ones you made with tomato.

    geez I’m hungry now

Naw, and I’ll occasionally eat fish. My thing is more that I don’t wish to eat something which I don’t feel comfortable with all the processes involved in making / harvesting it. I’m fine with most dairy (I prefer organic stuff, though), most non-farmed fish (it generally lives a normal, natural life before being caught and quickly frozen), and most vegetables. I try to shy away from overly processed stuff too, hence the Mexican Coca-Cola as opposed to the US crap.

    Mmm… Mexican Coke..

You also forgot to mention that another huge difference is glass. I can totally tell the difference between regular US Coke that was stored in plastic vs. glass bottles.

That’s true, there is a real difference.

Still, I think the Mexican stuff, made with real sugar, is loads better.
