Hot Melt Glue Sticks
September 6, 2005
It appears that, at least at Michael’s, hot melt glue sticks are no cheaper whether you buy the large or small ones, short or long. The only way to save is to buy a larger quantity. And as the larger guns work in a 40w gun (as opposed to a 10w), it’s likely that the larger sticks will melt faster.
Yes, I did stand in Michael’s with a calculator (in my phone) and calculate the volume of each type of glue stick, then the total volume per bag, in order to come to this conclusion.
I woulda done the same thing.
i can get a bag of glue sticks for my lil glue gun at the dollar store. can’t hurt to look there (:
Hehe… I was needing a bit more mighty, high-temp ones. I found what I really could have used online for about 60% of the price, but I needed them yesterday. It was only another $6 or so anyway, not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
yep. dollar stores crry glue and it works just as well. Micheals is overpriced in general. The best craft store to go to for dollar saving I believe is hancock fabrics. or franks nursery. joannes can be alot of its not on sale.
The thing is, I was looking specifically for large quantities of high temp hot melt glue and a high wattage gun to go along with it. I couldn’t really do with a dollar store one. :\
Oh, and didn’t all Franks go out of business? I know the ones near me did, but I don’t know about the rest…
hmm. maybe your right. I havent been down harper in a while. theres one btw 12 and 13 that has been there forever. i do know tons of them closed.
uhm, costco should sell them if you really want mass quanities. or sams club. or ebay. (I’ve bought alot of things in ridiculous bulk on ebay and even with shipping have saved money.)
Costco unfortunately doens’t. :( Sam’s… Well… I don’t go there. ;)
I actually only needed 80 sticks, which was two bags at $4.99/ea, so it really wasn’t too bad. I may need one more, but at the rate things are going now I’ll be fine… If I need more, next time I’ll just order 25lbs or so from online.
