To explode, of course.

Thanks to I heard about an excellent game called Every Extend. This game is *really* good. It’s free, but unfortunately for Windows only.

Basically, you pilot a bomb that must be detonated to create chains of explosions. There are some bonus bits you can pick up to increase your score, speed up the game, etc. It’s almost like a combination shooter / puzzle game. Absolutely wonderful.

Download it here, and be sure to download the replay files here (light mode) and here (heavy mode). There’s good play technique that can be learned from the demos (waiting for the pink / quicken blocks to speed up the game, etc).

Very, very good.

My highest score thus far, on heavy mode, is 1045960 points, 80 chain, and no spare bombs left.

Can anyone recommend a good brand/model of digital multimeter? I’ve got a decent Radio Shack-braded Fluke knock-off, but I’m having mild concerns about it’s accuracy. I don’t want to spend too much, but some nicer tools would be handy.

Herb Dipping Oil

[Crossposted to and .]

All,

I added a new recipe to my personal website today: Herb Dipping Oil. While it’s written as a recipe, it’s more of a structure that can be modified and fitted out with different herbs as one desires.

This method of cooking oil and herbs together (boiling them in oil in the oven) has worked out great for me, so feel free to give it a try yourself. Also, if anyone is interested, all of my recipes can be found here.

Due to a lack of something to do, I’m *really* tempted to pick up a Paia Fatman (with the desktop case) and putting it together. Hopefully it won’t take too long… I think it’d be kinda disappointing if I wrap the whole thing up in ~8 hours. heh.

It’s been a little while since I wrote an update about this, but my kitchen flooring project has progressed nicely and I’ve got some more pictures to show.

· Kitchen floor, all grouted. Just waiting for another day of curing and sealing.
· Kitchen floor, from start to finish.
· The whole gallery of all the stuff I’ve been doing to the kitchen and related areas.
· Obligatory before and current photo.

I’m just waiting for the grout to cure for another day, then I’ll get the sealer applied, moulding installed, and move the appliances back in. Whee!

Oh, and the grey boogers from the dust in the air when mixing grout is just squicky. (Although when working with wood they are whatever-type-of-wood colored, drywall is white, etc.)

Man, cLOUDDEAD fscking rocks. If you’re looking for a bit different sound, check out either the S/T cLOUDDEAD disc or the newest release, Ten. Both are great, although Ten has more of an indie rock sound to it, while the S/T is low-fi swirly piece with smooth flowing, powerful vocals.

Hell, while you’re at it, check out the Hymie’s Basement S/T as well. It’s Yoni (Why?) from cLOUDDEAD and Andy Broder doing a really nifty, especially catchy piece. 21st Century Pop Song just gets stuck in my head in a good way. I think it’s the most listened track on my iPod right now.

Top notch stuff, and a definite divergence from the same-old industrial that I’ve been listening to for the last many years while still remaining high quality.

nuxx.net Update

Just FYI, bornslippy.nuxx.net is back up. I didn’t get a chance to dig around in it much, as I wanted to reboot it and used a ‘ssh root@nuxx.net reboot’ command to make sure it happened right away. With things being as flappy as they were, I wanted the box downed and back up. As of now things are working great again… I guess I’ll just have to continue to monitor it as the day goes.

Maybe it’s time to set up something to alert me if it fails to reply to pings for more than a minute straight or something.

Oh, and this…

Click for more…

I got the tile cut and stuck down in the vestibule. Thanks to an angle grinder with a diamond wheel and a tile saw, it was nice, even though it was a bit wet and messy. That’s all right, though… It’s done right.

Oh, and this part of my house is officially the ‘vestibule’. It seems that the definition of foyer is more applicable to a large space. Vestibule fits much nicer…

Now I’m just doing laundry. All my laundry. See, part of stripping the floor of the laundry room requires me to soak it down with paint thinner. I’m not going to run a gas dryer in a room full of mineral spirits fumes. Oh, and I also need to tile underneath where the washer, dryer, and laundry tub are, so they have to be moved out of the way regardless.

With any luck I’ll have ceramic tile laid down in the laundry room by Monday night. Whee!

Oh, all email and websites hosted off of bornslippy.nuxx.net is down right now. I don’t know what’s wrong… The machine will return pings sporadically, and every once in a while just become available. It’s not a DDOS, and ofdoom, located on the same switch, is just fine. Something wonky… I’ve got a call in with the ISP asking them to reboot the box, so hopefully things will be back up soonish.

And yes, this is the same stuff I was seeing yesterday. I *thought* it was a runaway copy of PHP, but it looks like I’m wrong… The first thing to try? A reboot.

Okay… bornslippy.nuxx.net is having problems. I’m not sure what’s going on yet, but it’ll receive email, you can check email, but I can’t ssh in nor hit it via http. Thus, I have no way of looking at it remotely.

Still digging… Worst case I’ll ask the onsite people to smack the reset button.

UPDATE: It seems that someone is heading into the facility later today and will reset the server for me. Uggh. Hopefully a few hours and it’ll all be back…

UPDATE TWO: Things are back to normal. I *think* that PHP being called by a new version of Gallery that I installed was causing hell. No idea why… I was able to SSH in, though, and things are just fine now. Now I just hope that the person at the colo doesn’t go ahead and reboot the server like he was going to. Eek!
