Serial EEPROM
Reading the 24LC256 in the Zenith DTT900(Click to embiggen…)
Reading the 24LC256 EEPROM in the Zenith DTT900 without removing it from the board doesn’t work. It wouldn’t have gotten me much anyway. Really, only the initial program of the FPGA. Oh well.
Also, here’s a more detailed photo of the micrograbbers on the chip.
you need a chip clip.
I’m too cheap. The grabbers worked well enough, as it was only four pins.
It’s too bad I’m not insane enough to understand RF properly. I wanted to somehow get a svideo out from the whole thing initially.
where’d you get that pickit2, and how much?
i’ve been looking for something like that for a while…
Oh, I think I just grabbed it from Digi-Key. It was probably about $50 or so. It’s not the best programmer, and you might want to grab the full-on ICD2 which doesn’t cost much more, but it does work, and it is small…
One thing I like is that it’s trivial to drop a 1×6 .100″ header on a board then use it for really easy, replayable ICSP.
