Caffeine

700mg of Caffeine

700mg of caffeine in a glass vial sure looks questionable, doesn’t it?

If I can find a use for it, I’ll just order a whole 8oz from from United Nuclear. It’s only $16 plus shipping…

That means that this is six or seven cups of coffee worth of caffeine is only worth $0.05. Personally I’d rather have the coffee, as it tastes better.

I see they sell DMSO on the same page.

    Hmm – Caffeine+DMSO …

    That would be interesting.

Now Gibberellic acid – that’s just harmless fun. If I got enough light on my balcony to grow plants, I’d get some.

    1. That’s sweet, so you wouldn’t even have to snort it!

I will likely be acquiring some DMSO within the next week or two. :D

Oh, and you can just dip your finger in and eat it… It’s really bitter, but no worse than chewing asprin or whatnot.

“Personally I’d rather have the coffee, as it tastes better.”

OTOH, I’d happily pay money to be able to work in a place where I didn’t have to smell coffee all the time. Can’t bear the crud. Bleh. There’s a group on my floor that has set up a machine in a spare cube and they’re always brewing very aromatic stuff. Unfortunately it’s near the bathrooms so I can’t just stay away. It’s almost as bad as the lady that used to burn horribly scented candles over there. I’d rather smell the bathrooms, personally.

Ergh. While I like coffee, I can definitely sympathize. Although, I’d think the candles would be worse… There are few things I hate more than the stink of vanilla cookies, brown sugar, or whatever the hell else people think smells “good”.

I’d really rather just smell whatever smell happens to be in the air.

I’m surprised they have the coffee set up there and not in some sort of common break area… Can the outlets in the cube really take the extra 10A of draw? I bet facilities would say it can’t… ;)

The wiring in our cubes is pretty robust. I’ve seen 3 or 4 people in the same circuit running 1200 watt space heaters under their desks.
There are Bunn commercial drip machines in all the break rooms. But some people like to bring in their own stuff. One group has a machine that you feed beans and it grinds and brews all inside the machine.

I like the Bunn machines because it has a hot water tap that I use to make hot chocolate. Since they switched to a new vending machine supplier and candy bars are up to 75 cents, I switched to drinking the “free” hot chocolate for my afternoon chocolate jones.

Melt it down and inject it into your viens.

At what point is caffeine lethal?

And in that vial, it looks like crack. My neighbor’s 47 year old son was living in my garage for about a week before I evicted him, found something like that out there.

      1. c0nsumer February 5, 2008

Per Wikipedia the LD50 is 192mg/kg, which was established in rats. So, it’s quite a bit.

Also, I think crack is a little more lumpy than that, but yes, that’s why I think the picture is nicely questionable. :)

So, I’d need to eat about 21 grams of that, or roughly 30 of those vials. Yeah, that is a lot…
