Pololu Custom Laser Cutting Service

Pololu Custom Laser Cutting Service: $2.50/minute of laser cutting time, with an estimate of 3 sec/inch for 1/8″ acrylic and 5 sec/inch for 1/8″ ABS.

$3.50 – $4.00/sqft for in-stock materials, very reasonable shipping prices.

This looks to be a good place to have simple / prototype / plate enclosures made.

Good find, thanks! I think that’ll come in useful for me!

I keep wanting to find projects where it’d be useful, but right now I can only think of building enclosures out of flat plates, similar to how some locks are built. And that’s a bad idea.

      1. You don’t really need to make the whole enclosure that way, right? There’s lots of enclosures that take a flat plate as the front panel…

Exactly. Or front and rear… Only problem is that these are plastic. Although the page does link to some rather low cost water jet cutting.

I’m also thinking of getting a powder coater soon.

          1. I take it you saw the one they posted on the make blog yesterday? It looked nice…

Yep, exactly. I may get it to powder coat the rear panel of the next x0xb0x.
