Also, since ceasing to use Twitter I have not missed it. At all. In fact, I forgot about its existence until I saw an article about it a few hours ago.
I’m glad it’s gone. It’s irritating.
UPDATE: Also, something else I don’t miss is Apple’s Safari. I switched to Firefox 2.something on my Mac a while ago, and it’s really quite nice. Even though the spell checker isn’t consistent with the rest of the OS, widgets look odd, and QuickTime doesn’t play well with it, it’s still a great improvement.
I heard about that on NPR the other day, and the general consensus by the correspondent was ‘it was annoying at first, but after I got rid of it I missed it.’
I’m sorry to say that my estimation of NPR correspondents dropped severely after that story.
It sounds like it would drive me mad. I can honesty say I’m happier not keeping tabs on my friends like they were subjects in a US Fish and Wildlife study tracking migratory patterns. :D
The problem I had (granted, I haven’t used it in a few months) is that a few friends would regularly update with things like “Eating a burrito” or whatnot. It was almost like mini-LJ which I pay to receive (SMS charges), and without much useful information.
Then there were times when people would have conversations through it, leading to a bunch of individuals receiving half of a conversation which they weren’t party to.
It’s a neat idea I guess, but it really doesn’t seem useful to me.
I can see it being helpful when you’ve plans with someone or in a ‘we’re going here after work’ kind of thing, but that’s what text messages are for!
Perhaps this is technology we just aren’t ready for yet. When our lives are fishbowls for anyone to peruse we will know exactly what we need.
Firefox is way better than safari. I’ve been trying to convince everyone else that is on a mac of this for quite some time!
