Laserdisc
April 30, 2007
Does anyone local have any Laserdiscs they could bring by? Danielle dumpster-picked a player for me last year and I’d like to try it out.
I guess I could try an audio CD, but that doesn’t ensure that all the video circuitry is working…
I believe most LD players will play the Video CD format (which is just a standard ISO9660 with a single MPEG1 file on it at a certain res and frame rate. Most CD burning utilities will have the encoding options pre-set.
I’ve got Forrest Gump on VCD, so I’ll give that a go.
That said, I’m not sure if this one will. It’s a very old Pioneer industrial player, complete with serial port. I think it was from an AV cart at U of M Dearborn.
I could hook you up with some CEDs but not Laser Disks.
Wow, now those are just odd.
I’ll probably give in and get a cheap LD from eBay or something.
Yea it’s pretty creepy that they had video on vinyl in the 70’s but I have a connection to a guy that owns many players and disks.
