Anyone want another reason why I’m leaving DreamHost?

That’s just absurd.

I can’t wait to get home and (hopefully) start getting the new server together.

a guy at work has this lens…i think its a little older but it looks like the same thing, same specs. I thought I remembered you shooting canon so I thought I’d ask if you have any interest. He has no need for it…his ex took the camera. If not you but someone you know…let me know or make an offer I guess?

    1. Hrm, yes. I would probably be interested in that.

ok well he doesn’t know much about it but I’ll try to get more info for you.
I saw it today..thus writing down all the info on the lens. It’s pretty freaking huge. It looks pretty decent to me, needs a cleaning but I doubt it’s even been used much. I’ll at least try to find out when she bought it so you’d know how old it is…in case there are differences in the new and old.

        1. Hrm, can you get a picture of it? I’m not sure if the older lenses were anywhere near as nice as the new ones…

  2. wow, I’m not seeing anything like that at all.

I *did* tear them a new one on the blog on Friday, though, when they were posting about tricking digg while my (and a large percentage of their other users’) whole site + email was down.

    1. Uggh. Post #20, right?

      What box are you on?

For what it’s worth, the colo provider I’m moving (back) to is very reasonably priced, and the only outage I’ve had with them was when someone (who was checking the fire suppression system) hit the big red button in the server room.

I can’t wait to get out of their service. Even if I have to pull a chargeback, it’ll be worth it.

The new disk controller is here, and FreeBSD is seeing it wonderfully. Now I just have to figure out how I’m going to set up the vhosts, how to do quotas under FreeBSD, and how to use postfix. The server will likely be in place before I do those, though… Probably as soon as I get world and the kernel rebuilt.

      1. #30 actually, 20 is someone else with my name.

I’m on ouzo, with mail on spork.

        1. Ah, I see now.

I’ll probably do an extensive write-up on my experiences at DH, as soon as the sites are off of there. I’m going to play nice until it’s gone, then do what it takes to both get a refund and ensure that no one I know ever signs up for an account there.
