Anti-Viral KLEENEX

Anti-Viral KLEENEX taste, as expected, sour and bitter. They contain citric acid and sodium laureth sulfate which, I can only imagine, work with the wetness created when one’s nose is blown into them, and supposedly kills viruses. And yes, they taste just as I expected them to.

That might make good toilet paper. :P

It might burn a bit. I think.

I’d imagine if you rubbed the powder from a sour patch kid on toilet paper, then rubbed that against your cooter you could see just how much it might burn.

Why are you eating the Kleenex?

    1. c0nsumer December 8, 2005

I figured it contained something food grade, and upon reading the box I confirmed that it did. So I figure I’d see how it actually tastes. I bit off a small (1″ square) corner and tried it.

        weirdo

        1. I second that. Then again, tasting medicated Kleenex is something I would probably do. Yay, weirdos!

          1. c0nsumer December 8, 2005

Oh, it’s not medicated. It’s just antiviral… And I bet you consumed citric acid and applied sodium laureth sulfate to your body today. Or at least within the past two…

          2. Wouldn’t you like to know?! Heh.

          3. november551 December 8, 2005

yea but at least i didnt eat any kleenex ahaha

  3. artemis5819 December 8, 2005

the weirdness is not the fact that you thought to taste the kleenex but the fact that you actually did.
you are an odd little man. Interesting, but odd none the less.

They burn when your nose is chapped from running. I don’t like them.

Nothing like rubbing acid in open wounds. :)

    :: stifles laugh :: sometimes I wonder about you… ;)

      :P

Hehe, it’s safe, and this is how one learns things. :)

  6. ugh…this product makes no sense to me. if you are sick your nose gets raw and sometimes you have to rub a bit to ensure Proper Booger Removal. I can’t see this being a comfortable activity.

I really loathe the unnecessary germaphobic, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-anything good and natural for your body trend in beaty and bath products.

    maybe i’m just a hippie.

Yep, I agree. I just use toilet paper for nose-blowing-purposes whenever I have a cold. It’s a lot cheaper, easier to dispense exactly the amount you need, and generally just as soft.

When out at lunch a coworker bought some and all the way back to work I was trying to figure out exactly what they use to kill viruses.

Looking at the tissues themselves, they appear to be a normal two-ply, but with a third layer in the middle covered in blue dots. It’s really quite odd… Definately unnecessary in my opinion, too.

      1. november551 December 8, 2005

you cant kill viruses. you cant kill something that isnt alive. the only thing i can think of that maybe the citric acid somehow denatures their proteins

according to their website “When moisture from a runny nose, cough or
sneeze comes in contact with KLEENEX®
Anti-Viral* Tissue’s special middle layer, cold
and flu viruses are trapped and killed.*”
So I guess maybe its not intended to kill them on your nose but so that the viruses dont contaminate your wastebasket? what a dumb product

        1. i guess it is supposed to help stop the transmission of your crud to others but i still call crap.

          1. november551 December 8, 2005

what’ll they come up with next? coke mixed with coffee? oh wait…

          2. c0nsumer December 8, 2005

That may not be bad. Back when I worked at the coffee shop in a Borders people would occasionally order a Coke with a shot of espresso in it.

          3. november551 December 8, 2005

not bad, id like to meet the marketing genius behind that one

      2. yeah, i’m all about the TP noseblow.
