UK and Washington DC Trip

Looking along the Millenium Brige across the Thames
towards St. Paul’s Cathedral.
I’ve suddenly realized that I hadn’t made anything more than a two small posts mentioning that I had photo galleries of my UK trip up. Well, I’m going to make a bit bigger one here, tagging the photo galleries themselves and some specific images.
I’m not going to mention a ton of different images here, only the more notable ones. If you want to see lots of detail, please take a look at the main album from this trip itself (photo gallery retired).

It’s a hostel. :)
And yeah, Scotland is nice, but I really thought Wales was prettier. Although I’d like to visit northern Wales next time and be able to see ‘mountains’.
yeah, wales looks really nice from your pictures, but i’ve never been there so it’s harder to imagine.

(you’ve apparently got an extra space at the end of the link to the Udvar-Hazy gallery)
“Unknown” aircraft at Udvar-Hazy
DSCN2790.JPG : Actually, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, not the F-22
DSCN2843.JPG : Actually, a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt
DSCN2871.JPG : Again, F-35
DSCN2880.JPG : The other aircraft is the Boeing P-26 Peashooter
DSCN2883.JPG : Vought OS2U Kingfisher
Yes, I am a hard-core airplane geek and yes, I need to get me to DC again. Soon.
Heh, thanks. :) The only one I’d disagree with is the 2790, because it’s a YF- version that was modified to have vents under the front of the aircraft, and to pivot the exhaust nozzel downwards for short takeoff / vertical landings.
But I’ll go change the others. :)
Lockheed Rules!
I’m pretty sure he is right about 2790. I’m pretty sure the F/22 does not have STOVL because it wasn’t a requirement of the program as it is an Airforce only platform. It was in the JSF competition (for the USMC and the Brits). The STOVL system they designed for the F-35 is totally money too and blew away the Boeing version that couldn’t be fully demonstrated without taking a bunch of crap off the plane.
We are working on a pretty sweet morphing UAV right now
