Duct Tape!

Click for more…

Well, I thought making a duct tape dress form was surreal. Nope… Kneeling beneath said form as it sits on a stand, stuffing it and attempting to establish a posture and appropriate body lumps is surreal.

That said, the dress form is done, and I’m glad… I’m really, really tired, and I think it’s time for a wee bit of dinner.

There are a few more pictures of the dress form:

· Detail of the base of the stand. Yes, it’s a modified Christmas tree stand.
· The PVC tee which supports the form from the shoulders.
· My bathrobe on the form to show that it can hold some weight. It had no problem with this fairly heavy piece of clothing.

    1. So one friend can make a tailored full-length coat for the other friend who is represented by the form.

  1. what did you stuff it with? polyfil i assume? for future reference, expandable foam makes life even easier to stuff it with and gives a better surace to pin into. :) good work!

    1. Yep, polyfill, stuffed until pretty solid. I thought about expandable (the yellow stuff, not the blue latex stuff) foam, but there were some parts of the form which needed to be stuffed until firm in order to push the tape back out, and I wasn’t so sure that the expanding would do that. :\

Maybe next time I make one. hehe.

Oh, there are also socks rolled around the shoulders in order to fill them out and provide a bit of give.

Oh, and thank you. :) At least I know how to make one now… Although I think it’d be a bit more fun to make a solid latex one or something.
