Easter Salad

I thought people might be interested in seeing a picture of the impromptu salad that I made up for part of Easter dinner at my parents house. It’s baby spinach, watercress, roma tomato, and carrot. To the above picture I added a mushroom blend containing baby bella, shittake, and oyster mushrooms, but only once I was at my parents house, because I didn’t want them to get soggy. The dressing I chose is Brianna’s Real French Vinaigrette which seemed especially wonderful because it doesn’t contain any typical pre-made salad dressing crap like sugar, corn syrup, etc.

Also, I mixed it up in a bus tray, which is especially convenient because it provides plenty of room for mixing things around, properly tossing a salad, etc. And it’s easily washed / sterilized.

While I had no idea how the salad was going to come out (I threw it together while walking through the market yesterday) it ended up being extremely tasty, and almost all of it was eaten.

Here’s the pictures relating to the salad, all in one place:
· Salad mixed up in the bus tray.
· Mushroom blend used in the salad.
· Salad, mushrooms, and dressing.
· A piece of a slug which I found in the watercress when washing it.

A piece of a slug? I didn’t know you had to worry about that on your vegetables.

The salad looks tasty though except for the slug.

Yeppers… That’s why you want to be certain to wash leafy vegetables thoroughly, especially lettuce-like things. Slugs absolutely love those, and since they grow on ground level they provide easy access.

of course you have to worry about that. when we pick cabbage and lettuce in the summer, the first 10 layers are filled with slugs and other slimy things.

I fl added you if you don’t mind. I have a few thoughts about this lj-cut bs that’s going on over in food_porn and everywhere else that I’m going to put in a friends only post over in my lj. I think it’s time to see what Six Apart thinks.

Oh, sure. That’s fine with me… Personally, I think that they are going to say it’s up to the community mod, but we’ll see. I’ll take a glance over at your journal and read the post in a few minutes.

Well looks like the Mod has spoken, ignorant as it is. 400 x 600 or 600 x 400 ?
Neither of which is a native photo resolution.

Nope, but what can you expect from someone who doesn’t know anything but bitching at others and establishing partial and arbitrary rules? < sigh >

I just fscked the aspect ratio on the image and resized it using a height= and width=. < sigh >

I’m thinking of throwing together a new community… But that brings about the play-in-MY-sandbox issues.

Hey, I remember you — are you the guy who posted the awesome olive picture in food_porn that created all the drama?

      1. joiseyguy March 28, 2005

uh yep. but it wasn’t the olive picture that created the drama. It was a bunch of immature anal LJ losers with permanent PMS who have nothing else better to do with their lives who created the drama.

          Hmm, that sounds familiar. ;)

( is standing right over my shoulder as I type this…)
