Coffee!

[Cross-posted to and .]

Mmm… I apologize for not having better pictures, but I wanted to take a moment to brag about something…

I just got done roasting and then brewing a 50/50 blend of Organic Mexican and Organic Sumatra coffee. This was then ground and roasted with some wonderfully clean-tasting spring water, and it has made for an absolutely amazing friday afternoon snack. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything sweet (dark chocolate would be especially good) to munch on. :\

The coffee was acquired from The Runcible Spoon in Bloomington, IN, and the mug pictured above is a Ray Troll mug for Raven’s Brew coffee, purchased from SOHO COHO in 1996.

Did I mention my fondness for southeast Alaska?

I like Sumatra, but I doubt what I’ve had is organic.

    1. If it is, it’s typically clearly labeled and a rather big selling point.

I can’t say there is a kind of coffee I don’t like, and since I had two kinds of beans here, I figured I’d start with an even blend and go from there.

I have to say, 50/50 roasted for 29 minutes (in my roaster, plus the cool-down cycle) seems to work out great. :)

  2. How do I know it’s not Maxwell House? They all look the same.

I always drink the finest coffee at home before I go to work. Then at work I have nasty Maxwell House with powdered cream made by a company called “Office Snax.” Ew! :P

  3. Do you have your own roaster?

    Where/how did you get it?

    and mmmmmm…dark chocolate!

    1. I got one for clearance for something like $16 when The Great Indoors was going out of business. They had a whole bunch of these US$200 ones marked WAY down, so myself and a few friends of mine each ended up with one. Unfortunately, after the company which handles inventory liquidations bought the remainder of the stock, the price went back up to nearly $100.

      1. Ah, ok.
I’ll keep an eye out for clearances then:)
        thanks!
