Help!

To all the electronics geeks, I need help finding something. I’m looking for a 1U enclosure for a project I want to work on, and I’d like it to be plastic. I’ve seen them around online, but I can’t find a place to buy them.

Do you know where I could get one?

I’ve got a piece of gear I want to mount in an enclosure, and a plastic box would work great… And being rack-mountable would be even better. :)

So, again, what am I looking for? A 1U rack mount plastic enclosure, similar to the one seen here. (No, it doesn’t need any knobs or switches or whatever, I’ll take care of mounting those.)

Thanks!

  1. Here’s a metal one, I couldn’t find any plastic project boxes that big.

Hmm… Thanks. That’d work, but it’s a bit pricy. :( Hopefully I’ll be able to come across one… I’m already going to have to replace a bunch of pots and stuff. :(

cant help you with that one. did you try ebay?
but on that note. do you think it is possible to take a pedal unit i have apart and make it into a 2 or 3u rack mount? i only use it for vocals so i dont care about it being on the floor anymore and wouls be alot easier to use as a rackmount unit.

It wouldn’t be too hard to make it fit… Might even be able to do it in 1U. I’d need to look at it and take it partially apart to be sure, but it wouldn’t be hard to do at all.

I’ve got a broken PAiA FatMan that I want to put in a new enclosure. I built one from scratch earlier this year: http://www.nuxx.net/gallery/paia_fatman

Thank you. :) There was a bad back-story that resulted in my selling it on eBay for a bit less than the price of the kit, but… That’s water under the bridge now. :)

I’ve actually got a Big Briar (Moog) theremin here… Talk about a hard to play instrument.

my dad always said he was gonna build one, an d never got around to it before he died. I was thinkning it’d be nice tribute to him.

I’ve hear of people playing a theremin through autotune to get the key correct. Hmm…
