Today after work Danielle and I headed out to Stony Creek so she could try out her new 29er on some trails. Prior to today she hadn’t ridden a bike off road, and despite some initial (but quickly alleviated) fears about how a bike feels when it’s on loose gravel she did great. We rode most of the easy two-track; following the route P-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-17-18-19-5-4-3-2-1-P as seen on this map.

Excellent!! How does she like the motobecane? Or, are you happy with the frame? Did you buy the frame and build it from scratch?
Ali B.: Seeing as she’s never ridden another proper mountain bike she doesn’t have much to compare it to, but she seems to like it thus far. I’m happy with it, though. I did not build it from scratch, but instead picked up the bike for $250. I’ve adjusted things, rebuilt the fork, replaced the seatpost, pedals, saddle, and grips, and now it’s working quite nicely. Another seat is needed as well, but she’s still trying to pick one that’s right for her.
