About
This recipe was borrowed from Alton Brown of Food Network. And then slightly modified. While I love my Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, this is the one I now use.
Ingredients
- 2 Sticks Unsalted Butter
- 2 1/4 Cups Bread Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 1 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 2 Tablespoons Milk
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 2 Cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
Special Hardware
- #20 Disher / Ice Cream Scoop
- Parchment Paper or a Silpat
Oven Temperature
375°F
Steps
- Melt the butter either in a heavy-bottom saucepan over low heat, or very carefully in the microwave.
- Sift the flour, salt, and baking soda together. Set this aside.
- Pour the butter, sugar, and brown sugar into the mixer's work bowl.
- Cream the butter and sugars together on medium speed.
- Add egg, egg yolk, milk, and vanilla extract to the mixer's work bowl and continue mixing until well combined.
- Slowly incorporate the flour mixture into the liquid ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.
- Stir the chocolate chips into the mix.
- Chill the dough in the fridge for a while to firm it up.
- Scoop the dough on to parchment or Silpat-lined baking sheets, 6 cookies per sheet.
- Bake the cookies for 14 minutes or until golden brown. It is recommended to check the cookies occasionally and rotate the baking sheet for even browning.
- After baking, cool the cookies completely, then store them in an air-tight container.
Special for Steve's Kitchen
- Bake for 16 minutes and cookies will be done.
