I can't thank you enough for this thorough and very accurate review.

It tracks very closely my experience with the Acura model I had installed on
Friday, January 13 (a bad omen).

I never did get it to work properly, despite purchasing a brand new 5th
Generation iPod following my discovery from the manual, only available on the
disk delivered with the unit, that it did not work on my pre-4th generation 40
GB iPod.

I spent two hours on the following Monday at the dealer who installed it. Every
technician, the parts supplier, and the general manager spent time in my car
with me listening to my issues and watching the system attempt to operate. I
was apparently their first installation. We also used the Acura factory
programed Nano that was provided to the dealer for demonstration and testing
purposes. Even that Nano did not work perfectly, taking a long time to load and
say even the alphabet. None of the dealer personnel could figure out from the
manual or intuitively which buttons on the audio system we were supposed to push
or why they didn't seem to work the way they thought it should.

The next day the general manager called me to thank me for the time I spent with
them, and that he had communicated my comments to the regional Acura
representative.

As a result of my comments they would make sure any new prospective purchasers
would be advised of the units limitations before purchase, and the manual would
be placed on the Acura website. Even thought I did not ask them to do this they
refunded my $450 unit and installation costs, and did not ask for the equipment
back.

Although this was very responsive, I still wish there was a way to use my iPod
in a functional way with the incredible Acura RL sound system. I don't have
your skills and can't adapt one for myself, and I use the wonderful XM and DVD
Audio.
