These are a very good Autumn / Christmas-Time cookie. They go great with a mug of mulled apple cider.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Sifted All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 3/4 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 3/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 Cup Unsulfured Molasses
- 1/2 Cup and 2 Tablespoons White Sugar
- Small Bowl of Sugar for Finishing Cookies
- 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
- 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Oven Temperature
350°F
Steps
- Cream the butter and sugar until it is light and fluffy.
- Mix in the molasses, vanilla, and eggs.
- Sift the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, clove, and salt together.
- Gradually stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture.
- Make walnut-sized balls of dough, drop the balls of dough in the sugar, and coat them completely.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment and place dough balls on sheet approximately 2" apart.
- Bake for 14 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cookies cool on a wire rack, then transfer to an air-tight container for storage.

- Bake for 18 minutes and cookies will be done.
