{"id":8805,"date":"2007-06-02T20:10:00","date_gmt":"2007-06-03T00:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/2007\/06\/02\/buds\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T11:35:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T15:35:30","slug":"buds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/2007\/06\/02\/buds\/","title":{"rendered":"Buds!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_7478-scaled.jpg\" height=427 width=640 border=0>One of the first buds on the Victoria Blue Salvia Farinacea.<\/center><\/p>\n<p>The salvia in front of my house was <a href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_7086-1-scaled.jpg\">fairly small when planted<\/a>, and since then it has grown to <a href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_7484-scaled.jpg\">a rather decent size<\/a> without flowering. I&#8217;ve never grown a larger variety before, but I guess it buds rather late. At this point normal salvia would already have a good load of flowers on it.<\/p>\n<p>The habernero chilis I planted have already <a href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_7480-scaled.jpg\">begun to bud as well<\/a>. I&#8217;m curious \/ nervous about these, as I&#8217;m slightly afraid I won&#8217;t be able to use the whole crop.<\/p>\n<p>Also, when out to get Thai food I stopped by Lowe&#8217;s, returned a light bulb (wrong kind for my needs), and purchased an <a href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_7476-scaled.jpg\">upside down feeder and some seed blend<\/a>. This sort of feeder \/ seeds is designed for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Goldfinch\">goldfinches<\/a>. While I don&#8217;t desire to feed just one kind of bird, I&#8217;m hoping that the combination of hulled sunflower seeds, thistle, and the small opening on the feeder will help cut down on waste and keep various non-grass plants from growing in the grass below the feeder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the first buds on the Victoria Blue Salvia Farinacea.
