(Thanks to <lj user=pathwalker> for reminding me of the <i>proper<\/i> name of this facility.) For an hour or two I wandered through the park, looking around, taking pictures of various things. For those who don&#8217;t know, this park <a href=\"http:\/\/mapper.ofdoom.com\/index.pike?lat=42.662987&#038;lon=-83.078629&#038;zoom=11&#038;format=4&#038;overlays=superfund\">is located<\/a> right next to the <a href=\"http:\/\/cfpub.epa.gov\/supercpad\/cursites\/csitinfo.cfm?id=0502735\">G&#038;H Landfill<\/a> site, an EPA Superfund project. It&#8217;s really interesting to see how far the site has come from it&#8217;s previous use as a waste dump. While I did find some barrels ( <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuxx.net\/gallery\/hollandponds06march2005\/DSCN0362\">1<\/a> &middot; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuxx.net\/gallery\/hollandponds06march2005\/DSCN0385\">2<\/a> ) floating in the river &#8211; which I reported to the EPA and National Response Center (Report #752142) &#8211; this was a really nice walk and I got a much better feel for how everything is laid out there. By the time I was done, my boots and the lower half of my pants were completely saturated, but it was worth it.
