Then, after trying a bunch of non-productive methods, I attempted to clean up the threads of the crank with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parktool.com\/products\/detail.asp?cat=26&#038;item=CCP-44\">Park Tool CCP-4<\/a>, and it worked.
