For <a href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/gallery\/v\/stuffivemade\/dt350_ac101_wheels\/\">some new wheels that I&#8217;m building<\/a> for the <a title=\"Salsa Vaya 2 (2012): Ready To Go\" href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/blog\/2013\/11\/26\/salsa-vaya-2-2012-ready-to-go\/\">Vaya<\/a>,\u00a01\/2&#8243; tensilized polypropylene strapping tape (McMaster-Carr part number <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcmaster.com\/#7637a31\">7637a31<\/a>), which seems to be the same as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notubes.com\/Universal-Kit-Tape-10yd-x-12mm-P397.aspx\">Stan&#8217;s NoTubes 12mm tape<\/a>, was chosen for sealing the rim.\u00a0This width covers the spoke holes, but after being pumped up to 70 PSI it seems to have leaked as the tape stretched.<\/p>\n<p>The photo above shows where the tape slightly puckered and allowed air (and sealant) out when under high pressure.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed solution for this issue is\u00a0a double-layer of tape, partially off set side to side, to both make the area over the spoke holes thicker and have more tape stuck to the inner wall of the rim (<a href=\"https:\/\/nuxx.net\/gallery\/v\/stuffivemade\/dt350_ac101_wheels\/IMG_8585.jpg.html\">photo<\/a>).
