I want to retrofit it with a higher resolution LCD screen and updated hardware and OS, so I&#8217;m thinking that a Raspberry Pi and a cheaper LCD would work well. These are my work-in-progress notes for this project:<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet Changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove exhaust fan \/ temperature activated relay.<\/li>\n<li>Remove ATX switches and lights; maybe replace with something to toggle the Raspberry Pi on and off.<\/li>\n<li>Remove PC, use base plate to mount power supplies \/ Raspberry Pi and supporting hardware?<\/li>\n<li>Swap Hagstrom KE-72 for something USB.\n<ul>\n<li>Needs to support trackball.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>HP ZR2440w monitor in place of CRT. ASUS VS24AH-P? 1920&#215;1200 max from Pi.<\/li>\n<li>Need to rework power on\/off stuff due to Raspberry Pi not having any way to actually shut itself down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Raspberry Pi Hardware:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>v2.0 board.<\/li>\n<li>Enclosure.<\/li>\n<li>Powered USB hub.<\/li>\n<li>WiFi adapter: Cheap dongle; Adafruit sells one.<\/li>\n<li>Large SD card: 128GB?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Control Panel Hardware:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replace Hagstrom KE-72 with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ultimarc.com\/ipac1.html\">I-PAC<\/a>\u00a0or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hagstromelectronics.com\/products\/ke_usb36.html\">Hagstrom KE-USB36<\/a>\u00a0which may be an almost drop-in replacement.<\/li>\n<li>Currently have 39 inputs. Can I work with only 36?<\/li>\n<li>Panel-mount USB B.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Order of work:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Get Raspberry Pi.<\/li>\n<li>Validate MAME functionality.<\/li>\n<li>Update\u00a0monitor.<\/li>\n<li>Update control panel.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> After the purchase of a Raspberry Pi and some extensive testing, the hardware seems nice but not capable of running MAME at any appropriate speeds.
